Come learn how your local schools are becoming Innovation Centers to stimulate young minds and hearts. Project Lead The Way® (PLTW) is a series of courses that complement academic college preparatory courses to establish a solid background in engineering, technology, and biomedical science. The PLTW® curriculum is a hands-on, project based approach which allows students to see how the lessons they learn in the classroom are valuable tools to be applied in their everyday lives. There are PLTW programs in all 3 school systems, although they are in different stages of implementation. It is a nationwide curriculum.
Bring your students (children, grandchildren, neighbors, nieces) between 5th and 10th grade to see how creativity, problem solving, math and science skills, and team work can be nurtured and developed to make a difference in our world.
Even if you don’t have a student to bring, come educate yourself. WEDC is starting our support for this project by building community awareness and helping PLTW teachers connect with corporations that can provide job shadowing and internships. Down the road, we may become involved in mentoring. This is a joint event with Girl Scouts and WID.
