Walk the talk.
MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF
Sheriff Ana Franklin was born in Decatur, Alabama. As a child, she would tell her parents she wanted to make a difference in the lives of people, but growing up at that time a law enforcement career was not an option for a female. She is now the only female Sheriff in Alabama. She started her law enforcement career in Limestone County under Sheriff Mike Blakely. In 2004 she came home to Morgan County to work for the Sheriff’s Office. She was assigned to the Morgan County Drug Task Force working undercover narcotics, Child and Domestic abuse cases. Ana loves her job and realizes the responsibility that comes from being in law enforcement.
Her faith and her family are very important to her. Setting a good example and doing what's right is important. She has been very blessed to have a wonderful family. She has two beautiful girls, Erica and Alyssa, who both have children, so the Sheriff’s other title is called “Granna.” This may be why one of her main priorities is children and their futures. She placed resource officers in the Danville and Brewer High Schools and expanded the DARE program to the elementary schools. She has implemented a full canine unit which works hand in hand with the school system and the Morgan County Drug Task Force in attempt to keep our kids safe at school.
Ana has been working diligently to serve the citizens of Morgan County. If you peruse her Face Book page, watch the news or read the newspaper you will see that Ana has been working side-by-side with her drug task force to consistently make arrest on Meth and drug endangered children cases. Ana has made her reputation on arresting those who participate in this criminal activity and those who put children in harm’s way in doing this. She has also opened up the Special Victims Unit at the Sheriff’s Office to better serve those needs of the “victim.” The purpose of the SVU is to register, monitor sex offenders, and work sex and domestic violence cases. Ana continues to push forward with more goals in order to better serve her community.
